Daniel's Diary... "Food"

A few days ago Daniel is in bed he comes through to me and asks in a voice that shows he's been giving this some thought...

"Mummy, Would all the Grannies and Grandad's and Mummys and Daddys and all the little children die if they didn't eat any food?"

"Yes Daniel we all need food and water to be able to live and survive."

"Well what happens if all the food goes out of date!?"

Ah so it's nearly that time of year again... oh dear Christmas how you sneak up on thee so fast!

I can never get into the festive spirit these days, despite having a child. How terrible is that!? I love buying presents as I just love to shop online!! Always go OTT with the gifts but I don't mind. If I wasn't buying for others I'd be overspending on crap for myself, mainly clothing/shoes that never fit or don't look right on me that I'll never return!! What a waste of cash... So at least around Oct last year and again this year I switched the compulsive online shopping addiction from myself to others lol.

I hate putting up the decorations and tree. All those who know me will know I have a serious disability when it comes to organising... therefore doing the festive decorations is a bit of a mission for me, and not at all enjoyable!! Last years tree looked awful, and I didn't care. I stuck some lights on it, then let Daniel set upon the tree with decorations (he was 5). Just let him shove things on it basically, and that was fine with me. I had a tree - and it was up and had decorations and lights on it. Who says it HAS to look pretty?? It will probably be a similar affair this year unless my boyfriend wants to do it one night he is over!!

I always like the IDEA of Christmas decorations, but not the reality of making them happen. I bought 3 window decorations. Light up ones, think one is a Santa on a sleigh another is a snowman... you get the drift. Anyway, they've never even been out their box!! Maybe this year is the year... but then again it's so much effort! For a couple of weeks only to have to take them down again and try to cram them back in boxes that suddenly you can't actually believe they came out of? I'm a bit of a scrooge these days in that sort of sense!

I do enjoy wrapping the many presents I buy too. Usually with some Christmas songs on. Tend to do this very near Christmas (even Christmas Eve!) as I always leave everything to the last minute, did you really think present wrapping would be any different? Oh well maybe you would, seeing as for the last two years I've started my Christmas gift shopping back in September/October sorta time - complete with a Wordfile of who I need to buy for, and what I've got them underneath along with the prices, where I bought it and what date I bought it. See for SOME things I can be organised...

This year is the first year since I started work last November that I was eligible to be rostered on to work during the holidays (as last year I was still a preceptor), though luckilly I wasn't one of the "chosen ones" so I'm off both Christmas and New Year! Yay!

Perhaps I'll stick a picture up on here when the tree is done to show you what sort of state it is in.

Wishing you all Festive Fun and Frolicks for 2010!

Amazon Wish List

One of my friends recently made a Amazon wish list, something I've always thought about doing but never done so. It made it so much easier on chosing something for their birthday!

Sooo since it's mine soon (11th October!) I have made one, and then if folk wanna use it grand, if not that's grand too! They could even have a gander to see my tastes in jewellery or whatever too then chose something themselves elsewhere.

When people ask me what I like or what I'd want for my birthday/Christmas or whatever I never know what to say! I usually say "jewellery" but surprisingly never really get it, even tho I'm a cheapy silver lover hehe!

Anyway even if noone uses the wish list, it was hella fun to do! Just browsing and thinking "ooh that's NICE...." and hitting "add to wish list" haha. It's like shopping! You still get that buzz of looking for nice things but without the price tag.

Those who reallllly know me will know that I've been sorta an internet shopping addict for a while shopping clothing sites etc for the clearance lines just for something to do, and end up buying things just for the sake of it! Well at least today instead of doing that I didn't buy things never fit or look awful on me and will never return! What a waste of money I know...

Suppose if I see things I like but can't afford right then I could pop them on there too so I don't forget, and then can get it myself at a later date too! Oh the famous Russell Memory...

Well here's a link to the Wish List. Forgot to put it in, had to go back and edit it in (duh!!) but you can find wish lists by searching for peoples names....

Bebo have now made new profile mandatory

Bebo have now forced all members to switch to the new "improved" (aherm!!) profile layout. They have known since they very started trying to switch to this that there is an abundance of members who detest the layout changes so they let us chose which we would like to use. However now it's become mandatory to use the new layout. I am not impressed!! Along with a huge amount of others.

Bebo is fast losing members as it is, to sites such as Facebook. What I cannot understand is that they know the new profile layout is not popular but they still insist on a mandatory changing to it. Fair enough if they wanted advertising on the page to get more cash. They could've stuck it somewhere on the existing old profile layout too. There was just no need to change to the new layout. This change is going to drive even more members away.

Anyway last night a member took things into his own hands and made a Go Petition for bringing back the old Bebo profile. Here's the linky:

Somehow I cannot see that work, as the endless mount of negative comments on Bebo's posts about the new profile, since they very first introduced it haven't stopped them enforcing it. But I signed anyway.

Random Strange Incident

Last night as I was rushing from the bus to my son's nursery to collect him before it shut at 6pm I witnessed one of those "man that was WEIRD!" moments that really just make you think afterwards.

I was doing that strange kinda I'm walking fast and half sorta running now and then kind of walks, when I came across a little girl who must've been about 8 or so. She was sitting on a toddler's trike. She wasn't peddling it. Just sitting on it even though she was too big for it. She didn't look at me, and just kept looking at the handlebars. There was no other children around, and no signs of the toddler this trike actually belonged to.

Then she spoke. She said in what sounded very much like an American accent "Michael Jackson's deaaaad" in what sounded really like a sad, trying to get to grips with it tone. Like she was saying it to herself. I really don't think she even noticed I was there.

As I hurried along on my way, as I was approaching the 6pm deadline-or-get-a-fine to collect my son, and then as we both walked home afterwards I couldn't help but to continue to think about this little girl. Was she a tourist at a B+B? Was she upset about Michael Jackson? Should I have stopped and made sure she was ok and not lost? And another strange thought - was the trike just an abandoned/lost/stolen toy she came across and someone had graffitti'd on it about Michael Jackson? Although I doubted this last one to be true though it would also kinda make sense - the girl not looking up, and the way she said it - maybe she was reading "Michael Jackson's Dead"?

Strange, random incident that even though it's the next day somehow I still am thinking about it

Frankie Boyle's Beard...

What on earth was Frankie Boyle on when he decided growing a manic bright ginger beard was a good idea!?

Maybe he got fed up of being mistaken for The Proclaimers...
